Well, we're getting down to the nitty gritty. Twenty-seven weeks tomorrow, and each day makes a huge difference to the triplets ability to not only survive, but to thrive once they are born.
At our appointment last week, we got some disturbing news about our little boy. He was measuring about 2 weeks behind the girls in size and they are concerned he might not be getting enough blood flow (i.e. nutrients, oxygen) from his placenta. He measured 1 pound 9 ounces and the girls were 2 pounds 1 ounce each. They placed me on strict bedrest in hopes that I can increase my own blood flow and make it easier for him to grow. They are going to take repeat measurements a week from tomorrow. If he is growing, then we'll continue with the status quo. If not, then they will admit me to the hospital for daily monitoring and will consider doing an emergency c-section if they feel he is in danger at any point. Another concern is my blood pressure. Evidentally, if one placenta stops growing, it becomes toxic and can cause my blood pressure to rise - enough to endanger all of our lives. Again, if this happens, they will deliver them immediately to avoid any problems.
So - here's where Jeff and I stand: While concerned, we truly feel our little guy will get through this and will be okay. We fully expect him to have grown by next week's appointment. We continue to pray for all three babies, and we are so appreciative to all our friends and family who have joined us in prayer. We couldn't do this without your support!
